Red Dawn

Red Dawn is built from washes of intense red, blue, black and green, allowing the pigments to bleed, pool and push against one another across the paper.

The upper part of the painting burns with warm red and orange, while darker forms gather below in deep blue-black and grey. The image hovers between landscape and abstraction — something seen, remembered and then allowed to shift through the movement of water and colour.

The white of the paper remains an active part of the painting, breaking through the washes and giving the work its sense of light and space.
