White Cliffs of Dover
The White Cliffs of Dover have become one of the most enduring subjects in my work. Living in Deal, I return to them repeatedly, walking the coastline, drawing en plein air and painting from direct observation. Each visit reveals something different: changing light, shifting weather, the colours of the sea and the remarkable chalk grassland that supports a rich diversity of wildflowers, butterflies and birdlife. The chalk landscape is internationally important for its biodiversity and continues to be carefully managed for conservation.
