Kingsdown Cliffs, Plein Air Drawing

Drawn en plein air from Kingsdown Beach, this expressive charcoal study captures the dramatic chalk cliffs and changing landscape of the Kent coast. Working directly from observation, I focused on the rhythm of the land, the sweep of the shoreline and the contrast between the towering white cliffs and the open sea. The loose, energetic lines preserve the immediacy of drawing outdoors, recording a fleeting moment of light, atmosphere and place.
