Painted during a walk near Steyning in West Sussex, South Downs Sky celebrates the ever changing beauty of the English sky. Billowing clouds drift across a field of blue, casting shifting patterns of light and shadow over the landscape below.

Created with fluid watercolour and expressive acrylic brushwork, the painting captures a fleeting moment when weather, light and movement combined to transform an ordinary walk into something memorable. The work reflects my longstanding fascination with the drama and atmosphere of the natural world and the endless variety found in the skies above the South Downs.
