Sculpture
My professional career began with sculpture in the 1980s. My earliest works explored grief and memento mori through figures, portraits, skulls and symbolic still lifes. During the following decade I worked primarily in bronze, stone and ceramics, expanding into floral sculptures and mythical creatures.
Tulips became a recurring subject. I created large wax and plaster flower sculptures in vivid colours, exhibiting them in my sculpture park in Yass, New South Wales. After the exhibition, many of these works were cast in bronze.
My current practice includes figurative, animal, marine and stone sculpture in mixed media, metal and resin. Although the materials have evolved, the work remains grounded in expressive form, the visible marks of making, memory and our enduring relationship with the natural world. Many sculptures begin as inwardly held ideas that may remain with me for years before I can fully see and make them.
I am gradually adding my sculptures fro the 80s to today on my website. They are all sold or are not for sale, hence not having been added previously.
