When I was a young mother living in London, I often spent time in the British Museum while my son was at preschool.
I found myself returning again and again to the jewellery of the Sumerian Queen Puabi. Deep blue lapis lazuli set in gold, preserved for more than four thousand years. Every detail spoke of craftsmanship, beauty and permanence.
It wasn’t simply the colour that captivated me. It was the sense that these objects had been treasured, carefully made and carefully kept.
That memory has stayed with me.
Today, my jewellery is presented in luxury velvet boxes to celebrate that same idea: jewellery made to be cherished, collected and given as a meaningful gift.
